About this University

The university has specialised schools to conduct cutting-edge research and a Centre for Entrepreneurship, allowing students and staff to nurture their ideas and take part in various competitions or fellowship programmes.
Located in eastern Scotland, the city of Dundee offers a vibrant, multicultural life to international students. Graduate outcomes
Dundee was rated 1st in Scotland for graduate prospects (Complete University Guide 2022) and is one of the top 200 universities in the world for graduate employment (QS World University Rankings 2022). The university’s highly regarded Careers Service, made up of knowledgeable and committed members of staff, provides valuable expertise to help put students on the path towards their chosen career.
Some of the services on offer include advice and guidance sessions and a range of online resources on everything from CV writing to interview preparation.
Several courses include chances to participate in volunteer work, networking, or placements. There are regular careers lectures and seminars that provide students with an insight into their career of choice.
The university’s vibrant and constantly growing alumni network is another source of excellent advice, support and networking opportunities that is always available to graduates from the day they conclude their studies.
What’s new
The School of Business has recently added two new postgraduate courses:
- MSc Islamic Finance – in partnership with colleagues at Al Maktoum College, a range of new master’s degrees in Islamic finance and banking are now being offered.
- MSc Business Analytics – this new degree offers specialisms in financial analytics, marketing analytics and also analytics for management decision making.
The University of Dundee has been awarded a bronze level mark by the Race Equality Charter, in recognition of the continued work of the university to meet the standards of the charter and cultivate representation and success across its students and staff community.

Scholarships & funding
The University of Dundee recently invested in a range of new undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to enhance its commitment to attracting the best students to study at the university.
Students at the university will be able to benefit from the university’s Global Excellence Scholarship, which recognises and rewards students for exceptional academic, community-based or other extra-curricular activities. Successful students can receive up to GBP 6,000 per academic year.
Other scholarships include:
- The Humanitarian Scholarship – up to GBP 40,000 for any eligible postgraduate student with refugee status or humanitarian protection.
- GREAT Scholarships – students from eligible countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka may receive a GBP 10,000 scholarship to help with postgraduate tuition fees.
- Vice Chancellor’s South Asia Scholarship – up to GBP 5,000 per year of study for eligible students living in South Asia.

Eligibility
Entry requirements
Applicants to the University of Dundee will find that the entry requirements to a course may vary depending on the faculty and programme type selected. Applicants should therefore check the specific entry requirements page of their chosen course before applying.
All of the course content delivered at the university is in the English language, so international applicants will need to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency as stated in their course requirements. For those whose first language is not English, an IELTS result demonstrating a minimum score of 6.5 is usually required. Equivalent test scores from other providers may be accepted in some circumstances. Students with no documented test scores are still able to apply but may be given an offer that is conditional on satisfying language requirements.
Finally, international students who need a visa to study in the UK are also required to meet the level of English required by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
Department and Faculty
Teaching quality
Students who choose to study at the University of Dundee will benefit from an excellent standard of teaching across all of its programs and courses. Dundee is ranked 1st in the UK for creative writing, and in top 5 for medicine, forensic science, biomedical sciences, pharmacology and pharmacy, and education (Complete University Guide 2022).
Students can access world-class facilities to add to the excellent teaching on offer. Facilities include a state-of-the-art library, extensive IT facilities and campus Wi-Fi.
Students can take advantage of relatively small class sizes with tutors who are available to answer any questions that they may have. As a result, students will have the perfect opportunity to get the most out of their tuition which will be tailored to what they need.
Dundee’s students clearly agree that the teaching is of a high quality. In the National Student Survey 2021, Dundee recorded overall satisfaction of 78.3 per cent for full time students on undergraduate degrees.
Department structure
The University of Dundee is split into ten schools, each one with a focus on a different set of academic disciplines. All schools have associated research centres or units. The schools are:
- Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design – offers courses in ten different art and design disciplines including animation, fine art and textile design.
- School of Business – this school teaches courses in a range of subject areas including accounting, business and economics.
- School of Dentistry – Dundee is ranked 5th in the UK for dentistry (Guardian University Guide 2022).
- School of Education and Social Work – this school has two research centres: The Centre for Peer Learning and The Centre for Transformative Change: Educational and Life Transitions (TCELT).
- School of Humanities – subjects taught within the School of Humanities include English, history and philosophy.
- School of Life Sciences – the School of Life Sciences is one of the world leaders in biomedical and health sciences.
- School of Medicine – Medicine students at Dundee have access to a range of facilities including a Clinical Research Imagining Facility (CRIF).
- School of Health Sciences – this school is located in two campuses, and offers learning in adult, child and mental health nursing.
- School of Science and Engineering – this school provides programs in anatomy and human identification, computing, engineering, mathematics and physics.
- School of Social Sciences – offering a variety of subjects ranging across architecture, law and politics.
